The exact collar that you buy for your pet will depend on the type and size of your pet as well as your training needs. The collar should fit snugly around the pet’s neck without being too tight or too loose. A tight collar can hamper breathing and cause pain while a collar that is too loose is easy for your pet to slip. Most collars can be quickly and easily adjusted so that they can be made to fit properly.

Allow For Growth

Always consider the fact that your pet will grow, often very quickly and this means that you will certainly need to get another collar after a few months. While collars can be adjusted they will only be effective for a certain size range.

Starting Right

A young pet is often best suited with an inexpensive and simple collar. This allows you to begin the basics of training your pet but without having to pay large amounts for a new collar. For puppies, during training, it is best to start with a simple dog training collar so that you can teach them the proper way to walk without forcing them. This encourages better all round behaviour as well as longer lasting results.
